The popular home renovation show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC-TV has selected Taylor Morrison Home Corp. (NYSE: TMHC) as its exclusive homebuilder.
Taylor Morrison’s La Mira community in Mesa, will host the show’s filming from Sept. 9-16. This community offers homes ranging from 1,700 to 3,900 square feet, all priced in the high $400,000s.
We expect to decide on sales at La Mira by the end of 2025, having started in September 2022.
Once the home is completed on Sept. 16, it will be given to a family who worked with The Home Edit, a unit of the media company Hello Sunshine, founded by actress Reese Witherspoon.
Taylor Morrison has a partnership with The Home Edit, founded in 2015 by Clea Shearer and Joanne Teplin.
Taylor Morrison is working with Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center and Banner Health Foundation to build a community of homes designed for patients and their care partners during their treatment at Banner MD Anderson in Gilbert. Taylor Morisson has built and provided the homes within walking distance. This close distance helps 80 patients and their families avoid the costs of travel and hotel expenses on a yearly basis.
Taylor Morrison is the fifth-largest homebuilder in the nation, as said by the 2024 Builder top 100 List by Zonda. Schoenberg said that the company plans to continue to expand in the valley.
“Taylor Morrison is going to see a 15% increase in its business within the Phoenix MSA from 2023 to 2024,” said Schoenberg.
The homebuilder revealed a net income of $190 million on total revenue of $1.7 billion for its quarter that ended on March 31, according to its 10-Q financial statement on file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. During the same period in 2023, net income was $191.1 million on a total revenue of $1.67 billion. However, there has been a slight drop in the net income since then.
